Daggers too sharp for Dons

Abu Ogogo's goal gave Dagenham & Redbridge a winning start to 2014 as AFC Wimbledon were beaten 1-0 at Victoria Road.

However, the Daggers finished the game with 10 men after Lawson D'Ath was sent off early in the second half.

The hosts started brightly but survived an early scare, with central defender Scott Doe clearing George Francomb's effort off the line. But in truth Dagenham should already have been out of sight by then.

Twice the Wimbledon defence was sliced open by clinical attacking, but the Dons had defender Andrew Frampton to thank for keeping the deficit to just a single goal.

The home side started the second half brightly too, but Daggers midfielder D'Ath was shown a red card in the 57th minute following a second bookable offence. And to add insult to injury boss Wayne Burnett was also sent to the stands late on.

However, the Dons' could not make the most of their numerical advantage, seeing goalkeeper Chris Lewington and his Dagenham defenders in inspired form to seal the points.
