Anything less than three points would leave them sweating on results from other matches.
"We've got a lot of young players who haven't been in this position before and they need to overcome any nerves," Burnett told BBC Essex.
The Daggers missed the play-offs on the final day of last season when they were beaten at home by Shrewsbury and the Shropshire club went through instead.
Manager John Still has rebuilt the Essex side this season with a number of previously unheralded non-league players pushing them into contention again.
"It's a big, big game at Darlington but if we prepare right and play as we know we can then we can overcome anything," said Burnett.
