Martin Devaney earned struggling Walsall a 1-1 draw at Dagenham & Redbridge with his first goal since moving on loan from Barnsley. The Saddlers came closest to breaking the deadlock early on, forcing two good saves from Tony Roberts with the veteran stopper on hand to deny Matt Richards and then Devaney. After 26 minutes the visitors were punished for their wastefulness when Danny Green took advantage of some hesitation from Ryan McGivern and crossed for Darren Currie, who powered his header past Jon Brain to put Dagenham in front. The Daggers almost doubled their lead soon after when Green's superbly struck free-kick rattled the Walsall crossbar. The Saddlers left the pitch at half-time to a chorus of boos, but their mood soon changed after 50 minutes when Jon Macken found Devaney in space on the edge of the Dagenham box and his first time effort wrong-footed Roberts to level the scores. The visitors survived a barrage of pressure with Romain Vincelot, Bas Savage and Green all going close, but Walsall held on for a point.
