The ex-Histon defender told BBC Essex: "I've got to work hard because he's a good player, he's done ever so well.
"He's a good athlete and good lad as well, it's going to be hard work to get him out of there."
He added: "I'm just going to have to knuckle down. I've had my chance, I've shown the gaffer what I can do, I can only keep plugging away.
"It's my debut for Dagenham and I'm delighted to get that. But I'm bitterly disappointed with the result, I thought we matched them.
"We're happy enough with the performance, just not the result."
