Boss John Coleman refuses to get carried away by Accrington Stanley's relentless pursuit of the Conference crown.

But Stanley supporters can sense their team is returning to the Football League after a 44-year absence.

Romauld Boco's fifth of the season settled a pulsating encounter at the Interlink Express Stadium.

However, it could have all been so different but for three superb saves by Accrington's on-loan keeper Rob Elliott.

The Charlton Athletic player twice denied Chris Moore as Stanley spurned chances to make the game safe.

Then in the last minute of stoppage time he flung himself across his line to punch away a goalbound header from Cliff Akurang.

Daggers keeper Tony Roberts, who came upfield for the last minute, sportingly tapped Elliott on the back for the save.

"There are people who are already planning for next season," says Coleman. "Jose Mourinho says Chelsea will have the Premiership sewn up by April 9.

"I'd like to be on my holidays by then but we've still got 14 games to go so it's far from over."

Accrington, now 11 points clear of Hereford, can surely only blow it themselves. They couldn't have had a better weekend with Exeter and Morecambe both losing.

So, Boco's right-foot finish after 53 minutes from 15 yards was so vital.

It came after Accrington had created four good chances at the start of the second half with the Benin international going close twice.

Skipper Paul Mullin, making his 301st appearance for the Lancastrians, might have netted twice himself in the first half with a header and right-foot shot.

Home debutant Andy Todd also fired into the sidenetting as Stanley kept up the pressure.

Dagenham were more potent in the second 45 minutes and thought they should have had a penalty after Moore was tripped, before being frustrated by Elliott's last-gasp heroics.
