Robins rock dangerous Daggers

Cheltenham dominated the second half of an entertaining game to claim a valuable 2-1 win over Dagenham through Jimmy Spencer's 48th-minute strike.

On-loan Huddersfield striker Spencer had gone close twice in the early stages, without breaking the deadlock.

Gavin Tomlin ended a neat Dagenham move by hitting the angle, before the hosts opened the scoring six minutes before the break.

Skipper Alan Bennett netted his first goal for the Robins, when he met Luke Garbutt's free-kick to glance a diving header into the bottom corner.

However, their lead was short-lived, as Jon Nurse's quicksilver close-range finish brought the Daggers level, after Bennett had blocked Damian Scannell's initial effort.

A third goal soon followed, as Spencer restored the hosts' advantage when he fired Marlon Pack's through ball powerfully home.

Visiting goalkeeper Chris Lewington was now the busiest man on the field, and he produced brilliant saves to first deny Spencer's header, then a fierce 20-yard drive from Josh Low.

Tomlin forced a good low save from Scott Brown five minutes from time, but the Robins held on for a deserved win.
