Four second half goals, including a double from strikers Simon Yeo and John Murphy, gave Chester the points over last season's Conference Champions and sent them into second place in the table.

After a dour opening half, the game was lit up in the second period .The first goal came on 50 minutes as Kevin Ellison cut through the Dagenham defence and slid a precision pass into the feet of Yeo who waited for keeper Tony Roberts to commit himself before chipping the ball into the net.

The goal saw Chester push on and they were rewarded just three minutes later as winger Ritchie Partidge beat two defenders and cut the ball to Yeo who had the simple task of tapping the ball home.

The Daggers produced little threat up front aside from a couple of first half chances.

Sam Saunders twice forced Chester keeper John Danby into smart saves and Glen Southam scuffed a shot when well placed. In the second half Ben Strevens had a headed opportunity that just went past the post.

A third goal came for the home side though on 72 minutes when Ellison slid into a challenge with Jon Boardman, the ball ricocheted goalwards where Roberts produced a great finger tip save, only to leave John Murphy to hit the ball into the unguarded net.

With Chester dominant, it came as no surprise when a fourth was added nine minutes from time.

Partridge, who had been a constant menace all afternoon, crossed to the back post where Murphy arrived with an emphatic flying header to put the icing on the victory and send Chester rocketing up the table.
