Crawley hit back to blunt Daggers

Leaders Crawley came from behind to see off 10-man Dagenham and Redbridge 3-1 and clinch their seventh successive win.

Dagenham, going into the game having lost eight of their previous nine, shocked the hosts when midfielder Oliver Lee gave them a ninth-minute lead with a free-kick from 35 yards.

Lee struck the ball sweetly and goalkeeper Scott Shearer was unable to keep it out as he fumbled it at the foot of a post.

But the Daggers were reduced to 10 men after 17 minutes when Scott Doe was shown a straight red card for hauling down the onrushing Matt Tubbs, leaving Town`s top scorer to step up and level with his ninth of the season from the resulting penalty.

Crawley `keeper Shearer turned a goalbound shot from Jon Nurse round a post shortly before the interval.

And the high-flying home side went ahead in first-half stoppage time when Josh Simpson's cross was laid back by John Akinde for Argentinian Sergio Torres to fire home from close range.

Daggers` hard-pressed `keeper Chris Lewington brilliantly denied Torres a second goal by blocking his goalbound shot with his feet, before substitute Jon-Paul Pittman headed Crawley's third at the far post five minutes from time.
