It was a point gained for the Daggers rather than two points dropped as they took on Chester at the Glyn Hopkins Stadium.
After disappointing losses against Accrington Stanley and Tamworth in the last two weeks, a draw with the Blues was definitely a step in the right direction.
Chester had their first and only effort eight minutes in as Michael Twiss burst forward from the halfway line and tried his luck with a rasping shot which James Pullen pushed away for a corner.
At the other end, Alex Meechan looked like he couldn't believe his luck 20 minutes in when the ball came to him ten yards out, but pressure from the Chester defence meant that he couldn't get his shot in.
The game continued to go back and forth with a few chances made, in fact the most entertaining of events came when Ashley Vickers won a towering header holding one of his boots in his hand.
Danny Shipp went close though, with a 20-yard effort with only keeper Wayne Brown to beat, but managed to shoot straight into his arms.
The second half continued in much the same vein, as both teams matched the other, yet goal attempts were few and far between.
Meechan was faced with his second chance of the game with 70 minutes gone in much a similar position as earlier.
This time he got his shot in on the turn, but narrowly missed the target. Vickers, the bootless wonder from earlier, almost put the Daggers ahead with 15 minutes to go as his header from Alan Kimble's free-kick was tipped away by Brown.
Bentley then tried his luck, but again the Daggers were denied by their substandard finishing as the ball looped over the bar.
Not the most enthralling of games, but a steadfast performance from the Daggers backline, something that has been missing for most of the season.
