Dagenham and Redbridge lost their fourth match in a row as their billing as pre-season favourites took another hammering at Victoria Road as Burton stole the points in the second half.

As early as the fourth minute, Daggers had won a penalty after Mark Blount was cruelly adjudged to have handled.

Mark Stein, the Daggers top scorer, took the penalty and sent keeper Matt Duke the wrong way but he struck the post.

However, after relentless Daggers pressure, Stein headed them in front in the 18th minute as Lee Goodwin's cross was met by Ross Johnson whose header was tipped out by Matt Duke and Stein headed home the rebound.

Daggers could have and should have had many more in a one sided first half.

Stein had a shot brilliantly tipped over by Duke while Danny Hill had a close range effort saved and a chip just cleared the crossbar.

Burton's only attempt came when Paul Talbot's shot was spilled by Tony Roberts and cleared by Ross Johnson in the nick of time.

Things changed in the second half as Burton pushed manager Nigel Clough forward and the visitors swarmed the Daggers' backline.

Clough pulled the strings and scored the equalising goal with their first worthwhile effort of the half in the 58th minute, as he caught Daggers napping.

Daggers, jaded and overrun, never really looked like getting back into the game although Stein came close from inside the six yard box but the ball was cleared just in time.

Meanwhile Christian Moore threatened to extend the visitors lead later in the game as he stretched the Daggers as they pushed forward.

To make matters worse Daggers defender Goodwin was stretched off with six minutes remaining with a suspected broken foot and his team finished with ten men.

Afterwards Manager Garry Hill said: "I think they made us pay in the second half.

"When things are not going well for you it shows. We could have been four or five goals up at half time."
