This was a miserable game to match the miserable day, but the Daggers did just enough to tie up the three points as they kept their third clean sheet in a row.
There was action at both ends early on as Tristram Whitman missed a golden opportunity to put the Daggers in front three minutes in.
As the ball fell to him a yard out he failed to get his toe-poke on target to open his Daggers account.
Seconds later Scott Kerr saw his effort cleared off the line by Mark Bentley after Tony Roberts had parried his fierce drive.
Bentley was a hero at the other end 15 minutes later as he put the Daggers ahead.
Danny Shipp's free-kick hit the wall and Lee Goodwin's follow-up drive was tapped in by Bentley from close range.
Scarborough wasted no time at all as the second half began, but Jacques Williams should have done better when he ballooned the ball over the bar from three yards out.
Shipp showed him how it should have been done seconds later when his 30-yard drive was looking every inch the goal until Leigh Walker pushed it over.
Roberts then denied Colin Cryan from close range with an excellent point-blank save. He was however beaten with five minutes to go, but to his relief the linesman flagged Mark Hotte offside.
Garry Hill praised his keeper afterwards saying: "I keep telling everyone he's the best keeper in the league and today he proved me right."
