Against lowly Northwich Victoria this was a game the Daggers should have won easily and although they had the lion's share of possession they certainly made hard work of it.
Lee Goodwin was first to test the Vics defence as his far-post header from Paul Bruce's corner was cleared off the line by Andrew Ralph and the keeper at the other end was called into action as Tony Roberts saved Nicky Young's close-range effort.
Leon Braithwaite then had a golden opportunity to put the Daggers in front as he strode into the area and had only the keeper to beat but bobbled his shot wide.
Danny Shipp then had the best chance of the half when a bit of Goodwin trickery set up Lee Matthews who in turn sidefooted to Shipp, but Ralph was equal to his piledriver and got down well to save.
The second half began in the same vein with the Daggers having all the chances but failing to convert.
Finally though the deadlock was broken 50 minutes in as Tarkan Mustafa took on one man after another before unleashing a shot and finding the right-hand corner of the net.
Roberts then came to the Daggers' rescue when Jamie McGuire's fierce shot looked to be every inch the goal until the former Welsh stopper flew at the ball and parried it away.
Goodwin wrapped up the points 66 minutes in, this time getting the better of Ralph with his far-post header.
So with the three points in the bag the Daggers enter the Christmas period full of some much needed cheer.
