Dagenham & Redbridge claimed a much needed win ahead of their FA Cup third round tie and New Years Day clash with a comfortable win over Gravesend & Northfleet.
After defeat to Barnet, the Daggers were eager to re-enforce their play-off credentials although Gravesend made the better start.
However, Paul Wilkerson, who had an inspired game overall suffered a rush of blood to the head in the 13th minute as Gary Fletcher beat him first to the ball on the right-hand edge of the box and won a penalty.
John McGrath sent Wilkerson the wrong way and it was 1-0 to the Daggers.
Another error saw Fleet suffer another brutal blow after Justin Skinner's poor free-kick on the edge of the box allowed Daggers to break quickly from one end to the other and Danny Hill released Mark Janney, who was brought down by the last man Skinner who was sent off.
Gravesend battled bravely but the second goal killed their chances ten minutes into the second half. Steve West controlled Janney's cutback and smashed home the second and from then on Daggers could have had many more.
Substitute Mark Stein squeezed the ball under Wilkerson with 12 minutes remaining and West calmly scored the fourth in the 86th minute.
Substitute Louie Evans hit the top of the post for Gravesend with a 25-yard effort, but there was only going to be one winner in the second half.
Afterwards Daggers boss Garry Hill said: "I am pleased with the result.
"I was disappointed to concede a last minute goal against Barnet on Boxing Day. We wanted to put that result out of the way as quickly as possible."
