These two sides met in FA Cup tie just a week earlier where Dagenham and Redbridge went through courtesy of a 3-2 victory. It was, perhaps, a case of the two sides perhaps being a little too familiar with each other as they were well matched in this game with a draw probably being the correct result.
Forest Green have conceded three goals in each of their last three matches and must have feared the worst after going a goal down inside the opening six minutes. Chris Moore hit a sweetly struck free-kick into the corner of the goal after Tresor Kandol had been brought down just outside the area.
The Daggers dominated the opening stages, and Kandol almost added a second with a header that clipped the crossbar.
However, the visitors gradually worked their way back into the match and were denied an equaliser by Dagenham goalkeeper Tony Roberts, who made two fabulous saves to deny Alex Meechan and Paul Wanless.
The equaliser did come after 33 minutes. The referee had decided that Anwar Uddin had pulled Julian Alsop in the area and awarded Rovers a penalty. Wanless coolly slotted home the penalty as he sent Roberts the wrong way.
Roberts produced his best save of the afternoon just before the break. A breathtaking one- handed save denied a Meechan shot that looked to be heading for the top corner.
Both sides had opportunities to win the game in the second half. Roberts was again called into action to make a sprawling save to keep out a low Ryan Harley shot.
At the other end, Paul Benson saw a looping header clawed away by Ryan Clark while Glen Southam was also denied by the Forest Green keeper.
Meechan could have won the game against his former side deep into added time. However, Roberts was in no mood to be beaten as he made yet another save to earn his team a point.
