Dagenham & Redbridge took the honours in what was a largely dour encounter, consisted by two teams content on playing 90 minutes of head tennis at the Glyn Hopkin Stadium.
The Daggers won't mind however as the 3-1 result on the back of last weeks 5-0 triumph over Altrincham will only serve to enhance the home side's reputation as one of the favourites for promotion this season.
After arriving at the ground only minutes before kick-off, having being held up in heavy traffic on the M1, Burton could be forgiven for starting the game slowly but their hosts also failed to come out the blocks at any great pace.
The game eventually came to life on 23 minutes, when Aaron Webster's loose pass out of defence was seized on by Glen Southam, he played the ball to the by-line where Chris Moore cut it back for Lee Goodwin to sidefoot the Daggers into a slightly fortuitous lead.
Burton almost found themselves level eight minutes later, Darren Stride pounced on some defensive uncertainty finding himself clean through with only Tony Roberts to beat, but the big keeper stayed strong and produced a great save at the Burton captain's feet.
On 63 minutes Moore rose majestically at the far post to divert Craig Mackail-Smith's pin point cross from the right-hand side beyond the helpless Dan Crane in the Albion net to put Dagenham two up.
Burton briefly threatened to come back into the game when substitute Dale Anderson flicked a deft backheel into an empty net after good work on the right-hand side by Jon Shaw.
But Tresor Kandol quashed the visitors' hopes when he reaffirmed the Daggers two-goal advantage with a cool finish just inside Crane's left-hand upright, making Burton's trip back up north seem that little bit longer.
