Mark Stein plundered a hat-trick to fire Dagenham & Redbridge into the play-off places at lowly Kettering Town.
The bottom of the table Poppies had shaken their lofty visitors by taking seventh minute lead.
Shaun Murray swung in a free-kick from the right wing and new signing Brett Solkhon celebrated his debut by out-jumping keeper Tony Roberts and heading into an empty net.
That advantage only lasted until the 14th minute however and Stein began his one-man wave of destruction.
Steve Watts broke clear and although Mark Haran succeeded in getting in a telling tackle Junior McDougald fastened on to the loose ball for a miscued effort which Stein turned in at the far post.
Stain then headed a good chance straight at Ian Bowling, but the better opportunities before the break fell to the rock bottom hosts.
After half an hour Victor Asombang wriggled along the by-line to set up Niall Inman, but his scuffed shot went straight at a grateful Roberts.
Six minutes later player-manager Carl Shutt played in Inman free in the box, but his low effort was well saved by Roberts.
Kettering's resistance continued in the second half and it took until the 72nd minute before Dagenham gained an upper hand.
Tarkan Mustafa burst into the box and delivered a perfect cross for the waiting Stein to finish in trademark style.
A Lee Matthews header clipped Steffan Dancy on the line and hit an upright before Bowling grabbed the ball as Dagenham claimed a goal.
The Poppies keeper then held on to a spectacular overhead kick by the irrepressible Stein.
But he finally trebled up ten minutes from time as substitute Mark Janney fed Paul Terry in space and his low cutback was rolled over the line by the unmarked Stein.
