Macclesfield 0-1 Dag Red- Report

Medy Elito netted a debut winner as 10-man Dagenham made a triumphant return to League Two with a 1-0 victory over Macclesfield.

Daggers, relegated last season after just one year in League One, broke the deadlock on the hour when midfielder Elito - a free transfer summer signing from Colchester - slotted home from close range.

The game sparked into life and defender Scott Doe came close to doubling Daggers` lead moments later when his header from Mark Arber`s delivery went just wide.

Doe was even nearer to putting the visitors in control when he forced Jose Veiga into a fine save to keep out his six-yard header.

Then only a fantastic finger-tip save from Daggers goalkeeper Chris Lewington from point-blank range prevented Emile Sinclair from hauling the Silkmen level in the 67th minute.

Lewington came to his side`s rescue again with 13 minutes left as he turned away Ben Tomlinson`s 12-yard strike and two minutes later Lewington saw red for deliberate handball but despite finishing the game strongly, Macclesfield could not force an equaliser.
