Dagenham & Redbridge boosted their play-off bid with two late goals at Manor Park to deepen Nuneaton's relegation fears.
The first goalmouth action came at the Boro end, with Mark Stein twice firing over the bar when well placed.
But it was Nuneaton who came closest to taking the lead early on when Mark Quayle broke down the right and crossed low, but Daire Doyle lost his footing at the crucial second and the chance was lost.
Soon after hesitation between keeper Tony Roberts and Lee Matthews gave Carl Alford a glimmer of a chance and again the slippery conditions cost Boro dear as Alford was unable to force a loose ball home.
However, on 19 minutes it was Dagenham who went ahead when a goalmouth melee from a John McGrath corner was forced into the net from a sea of legs by Steve Watts.
Midway through the half keeper Clint Davies handled Jon Dyson's backpass but from the 12-yard indirect free-kick Danny Shipp's drive was blocked on the line by Alford.
On 28 minutes, Boro should have levelled when Michael Love's through pass released Quayle, who got bogged down in the muddy conditions and could only fire tamely at the advancing Roberts, while at the opposite end Stein rifled an angled drive just wide of the far post.
But on 38 minutes Nuneaton were level as Alford's flick found Quayle and though his shot was parried by Roberts the ball fell kindly for Eliott Paschalis, who confidently drilled a 15-yarder into an empty net.
The visitors wasted a great opportunity to regain the initiative within 60 seconds of the re-start when Shipp raced down the middle only to shoot wide with just Davies to beat.
But it was Dagenham who continued to dominate with Junior McDougald and Watts having goalbound efforts blocked by desperate defending from the home side.
But on 85 minutes they finally made the second breakthrough as a half cleared corner fell to Shipp, who blasted the 20-yarder well out of reach of the helpless Davies.
In the dying seconds it was left to McDougald to complete the scoring and secure the points for Dagenham as he easily fired past Davies from 12 yards with the Nuneaton defence in complete disarray.
