Robin Hulbert scored his first goal for Telford to help the Bucks edge past Dagenham & Redbridge in an entertaining clash.

The former Bristol City midfielder struck in the 36th minute with the only goal of the game, but Garry Hill's men will feel hard done by after having the better of the second-half exchanges.

Telford thought they had taken the lead as early as the second minute when full-back Matt Clarke had the ball in the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for an earlier foul on Daggers keeper Tony Roberts.

Chris Piper and Lee Goodwin both forced the impressive Chris MacKenzie into saves with long-range shots from 20 yards while, at the other end, Roberts produced a brilliant point-blank save from Sam Ricketts while Lee Mills fired a shot from ten yards over the bar from Michael Blackwood's cross.

But the Bucks eventually made the vital breakthrough just before the break when Roberts, who had earlier looked a little uncertain, only half punched clear a Blackwood cross and Hulbert powerfully headed into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Tarkan Mustafa and Danny Shipp both forced MacKenzie into saves in the run-up to the interval and it was a similar story after the break as the Daggers continued to have the better of the chances.

Firstly Piper's close-range shot from Goodwin's long throw produced a point-blank block from the keeper before Steve Watts blazed a shot from the edge of the box over the bar when he had time and space.

Mills and Ricketts were both guilty of missing chances to put the game beyond doubt for Telford, but MacKenzie again came to the home side's rescue 16 minutes from time when he denied substitute Tristram Whitman with a shot from just six yards out.

There was still time for both sides to have further chances, Blackwood having a shot saved by Roberts while Lee Matthews and Shipp both hit the target for the visitors, but in the end Telford clung on for three vital points.
